Would you like to work in a French school in the Iberian network? There are two options open to you :

1. The local contract

Staff are recruited directly by a school and sign a contract with their employer that complies with local legislation (Spanish or Portuguese, depending on where the school is located). Local recruits may be employed as:

  • management staff
  • teaching staff
  • administrative staff
  • service staff.

Each school defines the profiles of the posts to be filled according to its needs, and lists the requirements and skills needed to apply.

Are you a French civil servant ? 

To work in this area, you must first have requested a leave of absence from your home a dministration. You can, under certain conditions, benefit from a secondment from the Ministry of National Education, Youth and Sports.

2. The secondment contract

The AEFE’s teaching, education and administrative secondment posts are mainly primary and secondary school teaching positions. They only exist in schools that are directly managed by or under agreement with the AEFE. To apply for these positions, you must be a French civil servant and preferably have worked for at least two years as a permanent teacher in France.

Management positions are headteachers, administrative and financial directors, secretaries-general or primary school principals, reserved for holders of the French civil service. These positions are only available in schools that are directly managed by or under agreement with the AEFE.
